when we got to shea last night we knew that we had field box seats. what we didn't know is that we had fromt row seats!!! we were in those seats we always just stare at and what you have to do to sit there.
oh, and when we walked in they were handing out hats from irish night. we had been sad that we missed it this year, but now we have four hats! if we would have gone we would only have gotten hats for the adults!
trouble was we only had four tickets to those seats. my mom's ticket was a beautiful seat front row mezz right behind home plate that she had won in a raffle. did that stop us? oh no. we connived to get them to allow five people into four seats (no easy task!) by saying that c would sit on my lap. but then the security guy took pity on us and brought a stool over for one of us to sit on. he actually went and found us another seat. gotta love it! we also got to talk to max, the ballboy who made that incredible catch the other night on webgems. cute kid.
6th inning. mets leading 1-0 i reluctantly agree to be the person who makes the concession/potty trip with j. when i get back everyone is grinning at me. seems after waiting 35 years for a foul ball, while i was gone hubby caught one! i missed it but was able to see it on tv. so anyone who saw a tall guy in an orange jersey lean over and make that catch down the third base line. that was us.
great seats. great weather. and while the mets didn't win, the marlins win kept the phillies from advancing in the wild card.
a flat tire on the way home kind of dulled our enthusiasm a bit, but it was resolved and we were home safely and soundly by a mere 1:30.
now i am going to yawn and stretch and cram in a little homework before i get the kids out of here and run to class.
still can't believe hubby caught the ball. that it was him doing to "i got it" dance on tv and cheering and yelling.
