or...peer pressure and creative writing...
i went to the dreaded parent/teacher conference at c's school. i always thought when i was a kid that these were so easy for parents. eh, nope. but c is doing wonderfully. the kid rocks. so no trouble.
but while you are waiting in the hallway you have two choices. either sit your ass in the teeny tiny school chair making you look a) foolish b) like will ferell in elf or c) like you have a huge ass that may just crush the tiny chair into kindling, or you can read the "what i am thankful for" essays that have been scotch taped along the hallway walls. essays for me.
aw...look, the other kids were thankful for mom and dad. for pets. etc. my kid? nope. i was shocked and stunned. have we taught him nothing???
c's begins: i am thankful for the army. they keep us safe from stuff. i am thankful for god. he made the world.
heh? what? holy hannah! where did all that come from?
so when i get into the conference i laugh to his teacher, "geez, what are you teaching these kids. he didn't get that at home." hahaha. see, because i am witty like that.
cue "crazy ass mom" stare from teacher. hmm. ok, well, that's not a good start. turns out c is just easily influenced by what the kids are writing around him. whew. just peer pressure.
lol. he did also write that he was thankful for "living things. because they are cute and we can study them in school." and for "air. because breathing is good" and my favorite..."sleep. because sleep makes you feel good and everyone needs to sleep/" that's my boy!
