Starting June 11, major league bases will sport ads for the Sony film Spider-Man 2. The promotion will continue through June 13. Each ballpark that's hosting weekend games will use the ads for at least one game.

MLB spokeswoman Kathleen Fineout said Wednesday: "We have a segment of our fans who are purists. Like the start of interleague play, there are going to be some who don't like this."

really? ya think so? this isn't just billboards and distracting ads...this is on the bases!!

i know lots of you are baseball fans out there. i know that you sometimes root for other teams. but today we are going to forgive that ;) baseball is baseball and this is just wrong.

i don't really believe that online petitions will change a thing. but at least it is a way for our voices to be heard. so go on and sign the petition and tell spidey to go sling it somewhere else!!
