Just Tell Me What to Say by Betsy Brown Braun
When I was pregnant with my oldest child, I read Dr. Spock. I found that to be a helpful resource - it gave me an overview of what kinds of things I might (or might not) have to deal with during my child's early years.
Betsy Brown Braun's Just Tell Me What To Say is a guidebook for the next stage of parenthood. Designed for parents of 2- to 6-year-olds, this book offers practical advice for dealing with all things from whining to sibling rivalry all the way up to bigger items such as death, divorce and terrorism. This is not intended to be one-size-fits-all advice, but it does an excellent job of presenting issues that families may or may not have to deal with along with discussions and scripts to help parents get through these situations. Even if Ms. Braun's advice doesn't fit your personal parenting style, she at least gives you a heads up about what could be coming around the corner so yo ucan devise your own game plan for dealing with various scenarios.
We never hesitate to give presents to the parents of newborns. Just Tell Me What to Say would be a great gift for those who are entering the next stage of parenthood.
