Some employers don't know how to treat their hard-working employees....
.. then again, some managers don't know how to stand up for their staff, or to talk to their staff when they have to pass on a directive... (no, I'm not better than anyone else, I'm just sensitive to my staff's feelings, and not afraid of the boss)
HELLO!! it's called "middle management" and it requires some understanding of your people, and some finesse!

Exactly the reason I left my last job! No say in what upper management wanted done, yet expected to pass along directives (most of which make no sense whatsoever, and would be changed back several months down the road . . . ) as if we were in complete support of them! It's okay - eventually every dog has her day - a previous boss just turned 50 and someone close to her decided to do one of those tacky billboard things with "guess who's turning 50?" with a very, very bad picture of her along one of the main roads in town . . . every time I see it I smile . . .
