It's Back!!!
I waited six months for some new dancing. Dancing with the Stars is back!! After a two hour homework battle and the 45 minute bedtime battle, I settled in with a glass of wine to check out this season's batch of stars and pros.
A few notes:
When did Joey Lawrence get buff and bald and (OMG!)hot??? So far from Blossom! He may be the reason to tune in.
How damn adorable is Emmett Smith? I seriously hope he sticks around. So much fun. Very glad that he got paired with Cheryl.
They were mean to Monique and Louie. They weren't that bad. Not painful like Tucker. Oh Tucker, I'm afraid that was your only try.
Oh Mario!!!! So not my type generally and yet those hips...those hips...cha cha cha! Apparently, he has "extra batteries in his pants!"
Shanna did better than I expected. She's very graceful and maybe, just maybe, I will stop sneering and calling her the beauty queen. Probably not though. The judges were harsh with her though. I think all three of them are jealous that they weren't Miss America.
Willa might be ok. Maybe she'll grow on me. But Sara is not long for the contest.
Harry tried but I think Lisa is going to have to lead when he gets home. Maybe he will get another chance. Maybe.
Vivica is unbelievably hot and a natural. I love her. So glamorous, graceful and beautiful and still fun and "spicy."
Jerry Springer? What a good sport. A good dancer? Nah. But lots of fun and not the worst. He gave it a good try. And he's learning to dance for his daughter's wedding. How sweet is that?
So my favorites? Viviva, Mario, Joey and Emmett.
Did you watch?

once more with feeling?
I was over at mac's when I saw some exciting news for those of us who miss Buffy and the gang.
Writer/director Joss Whedon has hinted his cult TV creations Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel could be making a comeback.
The series creator says there are talks of home entertainment or miniseries continuations of the Sarah Michelle Gellar-starring series and its spin-off.
He says, "We've been discussing how to do things with a different format--maybe something straight to DVD that wouldn't be a full series. There are various characters that I'd want to explore further."
I am practically giddy at the thought.

i never would imagined that a man in a green polo would blow everyone else away....
tonight it was the men's turn--even ace was disappointing--but chris ended it all with a bang.

full circle
in the mornings, when the boys are all packed off to school and the pups are recovering from their early morning antics with a snoring contest on the couch, i like to settle into my morning routine.
a little breakfast, a little blogging and a little buffy. yup, buffy. FX runs the episodes in order from season1 to season 7 (now only one episode a day) every morning. so i let the DVR record it and then zip through it.
sometimes it is just background noise as i do other things, sometimes i get sucked into a favorite episode, but i always love when it circles back around. i love when after watching buffy save the world for the last time in episode 7 the next morning is "welcome to the hellmouth." it makes me smile.

forums and buttons
for anyone interested in continuing the american idol discussion (or other tv addictions!)
i made a snazzy new button for the sidebar------>
i put a copy in the extended entry for your very own use. yup, i'm nice that way.
so come on over to the forum and chit chat about idol or gray's anatomy or any other tv addictions.
(ummm, there's also a book group and a mets discussion. a little something for everyone, yes?) things have just been a little neglected since the unfortunate hacking. we'll get things up and running again!

last night was the men. better. no "let's see how loud we can sing" contest.
one of my favorites had a rough night. and i am thinking i need to add two to my list.
i am also thinking that i am going to move the idol chatter over to the forum. i have been sadly neglecting the forum since it was hacked into a while back. so stop in and add your two cents about last night. i am going to have to dvr the results show 'til after classes tonight.

we'll always have paris
so idol last night? i was frightened that it was going to be one giant contest to see who could sing the loudest, most boring ballad until paris came out--all 70s style--and blew them away! she has such an amazing presence. it seems as if she has been doing this her whole life and that "whole life" has only been 17 years. amazing.
lisa and katharine also turned in promising performances. beautiful voices and likeable women. i am holding out hope.
the rest of them? feh. someone needs to slap brenna--claws and all. becky is beautiful but she can't sing and she is working that "aren't i the sexiest" bit a little much. stevie? opera training? i don't see it. that was a scary, scary, song.
bring on the men! my current favorite picks--before tonight's performances start--ace (the prettiest by far), chris daughtry (my favorite bald, singing cowboy. oofah!) and david radford (the young, jailbate, harry wanna-be) we'll see how it goes.
update on my vague "some good news" post. at this point, i know for certain that there will be good news...but...i have a very difficult decision to make before i know what that good news will be. see? much clearer now, yes?

I'm calling the men right now: Cute little William!
will was only just okay tonight... I've heard him sing better! I hope he stays, though.
oh my!!! I think ACE is HOT! He's great!
i thought will did better than they were giving him credit for. the cong choice wasn't a great vehicle for showing off his voice, but it did show that he was a performer and had much more presence than many others. plus, they said he looked like bobby brady. i, personally, think he looks more like peter during the early years. ;)
one of my favorites really had a rough night. david radford did some kind of bad elvis thing that made me sad but i am hoping that he gets through so that he can do what he does best next week.
ace and my singing cowboy? great night for both. love them!

george is the sweetest guy. ever. and the baby's middle name is george. i might cry.
"have you seen her?" "that's not the 'her' he meant..."
i suppose you can't tell your wife that when you think it might be your last few moments alive it wasn't her you were thinking of. and then...
"i can't remember our last kiss."
ah, mcdreamy, how could she forget? and how amazing are you that you remember every last detail?
and the bomb? i never saw it coming. i thought she was going to start dating bomb squad guy and make a new little triangle. i didn't know he was going to be "pink mist!" ew.
burke and christina are adorable.
great follow-up to the "code black" episode.
can we get rid of mcdreamy's wife now? how much fun will it be when her boyfriend/his best friend comes back and starts hitting on meredith?

another thing that made me smile. a herpes commercial. no, not the commercial itself but my 11yr old's reaction. he asked what it was, was it a disease you get from s-e-x. when we told him it was he was appropriately grossed out. we simply told him it was like a rash that hurt. his next question was "how did the first person get it? they didn't do s-e-x? they must have just got it from nowhere! oh my god! i could just get it from nowhere!! i am going to get it!! what if i get it!??!" to stop the panic. sparky opted to tell him that someone probably got it from an animal. while this calmed j down he thought for a second and then asked, completely grossed out:
who would make out with a pidgeon?
'cause you know that's where it came from ;)

how much do i love bree? her controlled seething at the funeral was perfect. there was no way she was letting him go in the tacky ass tie. and my favorite bree line of the evening..."I will go non-denominational so fast it will make your head spin!"
i have to say that susan's little woe is me crap is starting to get on my nerves. geez, that woman is a pain in the ass!
lynette? smashing his knees up to his chin a dozen or so times? was that therapy or revenge? lol. loved the multi-tasking and the diaper sticking to the glass was priceless.
"we're not nice people are we?" "no, but at least we're still rich."
and i have no idea what to make of the creepy new people, but i am sure that susan will be butting in and sneaking around soon while doing a little slapstick "oh look how klutsy i am" comedy. i know. she does make me laugh sometimes as well, but i think she is the weakest character on the show. just do the hot plumber guy already and stop feeling so sorry for yourself. sure....his kid is a wacko who held you hostage but who doesn't have a few problems? so, where do you think zach is?

Eeek! I clicked on the extended entry and almost read it before I realized what it was! We DVRd it and I can't wait.
Bree was priceless so's her Monster-in-Law. Yikes! When Bree said the "non-denominational" line, I screamed out, "YES!" Yes, I love Bree as well.
Anytime Susan was on the screen was depressing. Her daughter was cool though. Edie's constant questioning of Susan to try to keep her away from Mike was classic Edie, but I was laughing.
I kept thinking Nina was going to pop out of her top. That's professional. I wonder if she slept her way into that job...
I read a synopsis of what was to happen on the first episode of the new season and read, "Betty gets asked to play the organ at the funeral and makes a lasting impression there." I don't think that happened. There wasn't anything spectacular about her playing. Nobody commented on it. The person down below? The father/husband that's "dead" maybe? I think that would be too obvious though.
Glad I have a place I can go now to discuss!!

willow and xander
anyone else check out two new shows last night? you know, the ones with willow and xander in them?
yes, i admit it. i watched just to see them. it's sad, i know. i was reading over at B*'s and she noticed the same thing i did. neil patrick harris (you know, doogie!) said, "this is totally going in my blog!" hey, doogie has had a blog since way back in the day (remember him typing away at the end of every episode?). there were a few funny spots in there but i am not sure how long willow and doogie's show will last. it was cute but....
and then xander's show, "kitchen confidential." i tuned in to see xander but was giddy when i realized that the star of the show is bradley cooper recently of "alias" and "jack and bobby" fame. (was i the only one that loved the show "jack and bobby?" i must have been because it isn't on any more. but it was really good, honest.) there are a few others worth watching on the show but more importantly, the show itself was better than i thought. i will tune in again, and not just for the scenery ;)
so, yes, my exciting night was filled with tv viewing. but i did play a concert beforehand and read some criticism for class. i just couldn't sleep and my pal tivo and i spent some quality time together.
tivo is still holding onto "prison break" and "rome" for me. what? i like tv. it's a weakness. lol.
what new shows have you checked out? what old ones are you waiting for?

The only show I've been watching lately is Weeds on Showtime. I have a feeling the premise is going to run itself out very soon, but the first several episodes have been entertaining. Mary Elizabeth Parker stars, but Elizabeth Perkins steals the show in her supporting role.
hmm... I'm sad that Big Brother and Rockstar INXS are ending. When does American Idol come back? LOL! I just watched Two and a Half Men for the first time last night, and that was pretty good. Duckie Dale! Why haven't I watched that show before? Because the premise looked dumb... but it's pretty funny.
I will watch E.R. again.
I'm DYING to see season 2 of LOST!!!
well I am glad you had a good time with tivo. I am waiting for the last? season of Smallville, starts next Thurs. and West Wing. I am still enjoying Rome and Fragles!!
I've been following Rockstar INXs even though nobody could ever, ever replace Michael Hutchence.
Apart from that it's Desperate Housewives, reruns of Sex and the City and my favourite, a UK show called Hustle.

Holy shit. We DVR this and won't watch it until tomorrow night, and now you have me on pins and needles! (I'd better not come back here and read any more comments until we've seen it!)
!!! I KNOW! I don't watch the show very often, but now that it's on before Entourage, I'm more into it. I could not believe the turn of events. !!!
Damn! I was drawn back here half hoping they'd be more info and half hoping there wouldn't! Okay, I'm going now...
Okay, now that we finally saw it I can comment appropriately. It's about time. I cannot stand his whiny, self-absorbed ass. In fact, his character makes watching that show downright painful sometimes. I hope he kicks it and this isn't some sort of cliff hanger BS. (I feel the same way about Michael on Queer as Folk, only he lived through the recent gay-bashing bombing, damn it.)

re: Booked it!
I notice the Disney cruise site claims, "Adults find excitement and indulgence." Powerful words, dontcha think? www.hotfriendfinder.com prolly uses the same writers.
ok im not political but...
1121 seems like a lot of troops to die if you're not 1) defending our soil, 2) defending an ally 3)defending our freedom.
After 1121 dead, what has George Bush accoplished besides ticking off all of islam, not just the fundamentalists? To go pick a fight with a country under a no-fly zone that wasnt a threat even to its neighbors was Bush doing what he thought he could get away with. After all, americans were rallying around the flag at the time.
The US judged saddam hussein. He is evil, but was it our place to depose him? Iraq's poulation is 25mm. In a civil war, millions could die. That disaster would trivialize anything saddam did to Iraq. The smarter play for bush would have been to leave that power structure in place. Now, we hold millions of lives in our hands and we dont know what we are doing. Does anyone really think Western Democracy will stick in Iraq?
Bush, through his lack of concensus building and statesmanship, created this entire humanitarian problem both at home and abroad. In baseball, if a pitcher is throwing innefectively, the manager comes and takes the ball. Take the ball away americans, before this player blows it for the whole team.
Nooo... your dad's crying right along with you!

oh i think she's pregnant. otherwise the doc wouldn't want it kept from ephraim.
i am sad that the season is over so soon. at least there is baseball to watch!
okay what's scarier, you making a blog entry about an Everwood 'preview' or site140 knowing all those details about it! :P
Didn't see it ~ but Jess called me at work to tell me all the details ~ "Mom, remember when Ephraim and Madison were ummm ~ gettin' together?"
~can't imagine, if this is the fact, where they will go with this one.

I think they're going to write Harry outta the show. It doesn't really work with Grace married. At least not that well. I have a feeling she's going to kick him to the curb and move back in with Will.
The whole J-Lo part at the end was hilarious! And my all time fav moment of the show? When Jack is talking with Rosy and he offers her a shrimp and says "Shrimp?" and Beverley Lesley is walking by and without a beat says, "Queer!" Too funny!!
lol. that was my favorite part as well!
it's definite that harry isn't going to be on the show. i just wish they would write it better.
they have such amazing writers, i am disappointed.
maybe he could just stop in once in a while and sing? lol.
flashbacks of steamy sex scenes? something ;)
