A gloomy morning seems fitting
 

I know that in a few days I will see more clearly what a good season the Mets had. But this morning I had to wake C, who slept with his little rally cap next to his bed. He rubbed his eyes then shot up quickly out of bed, remembering what last night was.

"Did they win? Are we going to the World Series?"

"No, sorry buddy. They tried really hard and they played really well but they just didn't do it."

He sat there a little stunned, not believing that that could have happened and his eyes teared a little. But then, like a good 9 yr old baseball player, he shrugged his shoulders and said, "They tried their best. Next year they will do it, right?"

"Yes, buddy. Next year they will."
