A long, wet weekend and I thought I would break up the monotony by actually cooking and making some new recipes.
I thought, "Oooh! I have a really good hummus recipe and I have always wanted to try it! And I have fresh basil in the garden!" (I often think with many, many exclamation points)
So here's the thing. I want to be cool and trendy and like hummus. And I was assured that this is actually good hummus by cooler people than myself. But I just don't like it. I even made the same face the kids did. Blech. Then we all laughed, stored it in the fridge so I can throw it out in a day or two and made fresh strawberry shortcake 'cause mmmmmmm....dessert.
So let's check it off on the list of cool foods I just am not cool enough to like. sushi. check. thai food. check. seafood of any kind. check. sigh...and now hummus. check.
I am doomed to boring suburban foods. I might as well dig into my mom's scary Woman's Day cookbooks or start buying processed meat-foods.
Oh well, Sparky is happy he is getting my famous meatloaf, garlic redskin mashed potatoes and spring salad. Yup, I said it. I make a mean meatloaf. That's what happens when you aren't cool enough for hummus. ;)
