i can't say i am surprised, but the kansas school board approved new standards for inclusion of intelligent design in the science curriculum.
"This is a sad day, not just for Kansas kids, but for Kansas," Janet Waugh of Kansas City, one of the four dissenting board members, said before the vote. "We're becoming a laughingstock not only of the nation but of the world."

So glad we don't live in Kansas and glad to see that PA seems to feels differently booting out all eight members of the school board that petitioned to have intelligent design included in the curriculum.
the saddest part of all this is the students:
"We're glad we're seniors," said Hannah Teeter, 17, part of the group from Shawnee Mission West High in Overland Park, a Kansas City suburb. "I feel bad for all the kids that are younger than us that they have to be taught things that aren't science in science class."
