unlike them, i did manage to put this back together again!

the new skin on the blog is actually one that kathy made for another site of mine. i am letting the other domain go for now, but didn't want to lose the skin so a few tweaks and it's just like new! the picture is from a postcard of the gingerbread castle in hamburg, nj. i used to go there when i was a child and wander the castle grounds with hansel and gretel, see humpty dumpty and the little ol' woman who lived in a shoe, snack on warm, spicy gingerbread and sip steaming hot chocolate. unfortunately, the castle is in need of repair, but i still remember it as a magical place.

lots of reading for the summer months--some heavy, some light, a good mix. go join in the book group if you haven't already. we are reading the red tent right now. never too late to join in, we are a low pressure, flexible schedule kind of group.

i am also planning on reading travels of sir john mandeville over the summer--tossing around a few research ideas inspired by the tiny bit of kzoo i managed to attend.

so my first day off was filled with a sick kid, a visit from the cable man (my new dvr!!), the new netscape and fiddling with some computer code. not bad....but tomorrow hopefully they will both be in school. please....
