rant

when i ask if my grade is in danger at all and a teacher says "no" i am thinking that i have an A

not a friggin A-!

now you know how nuts i was about the B+....i just finished a good ten minute crying jag over this one. i keep looking at my GPA and my goddam chances of getting in to grad school plummet like...oh shit i don't know....i am too tired to think up a clever and witty little simile.

Dear Santa -
For Christmas this year I would like better f-ing grades. Some time to do my work in peace and quiet. A husband who is supportive (and that doesn't mean just money, dammit) Kids who listen even just a little. I would settle for just saying "Ok Mom" every now and then. Some damn help around the house. A washer that doesn't need to have the spin cycle run twice to get the water out. A dryer that , I don't know...dries????And some meds so my head isn't jumping around like a flea circus (there....a simile...take what you can get!)

And no, I haven't been particularly good this year. It's been a rough year. I would do a lot better with a few things from the list.

~M

And my mom calls and says "What time should I get there tomorrow?"

Tomorrow???? When did Christmas Eve get to be tomorrow already??????

We are going to have the hap-hap-happiest f-ing Christmas since Bing Crosby danced with Danny f-ing Kaye!
Hallelujah. Holy shit! Where's the aspirin?

Tell me this is NOT the teacher who said you didn't need to turn in that paper because your grade was OK. Does he even know you?
"THATS NOT FAIR"
(in quotes because I copied that phrase from my daughter)
Go ahead and rant - and I'll go shopping for some of those things on your list.
Gotta love the "pass the aspirin" line.
See you can too still smile if you can quote "Christmas Vacation"

Ok, now breathe.

Your grades were great this term, your life experience is impressive, and your extra curricular activities are amazing (they'd be impressive even if you were a student living on campus, much less a mom with her hands full). The graduate school admissions offices will see that. You WILL get into a great graduate program. This will all be fine.

I can't wait until I can tell you "I told you so!"
