Bah! humbug!

nah! not really...what more could you want when you go into the city than lots of snow?

we made it into the city, and as soon as we managed to take away my mom's "whistle and clipboard" and have her settle down a bit, we all had a great time. we grabbed a cab and headed to restaurant row where we found the coziest irish pub with books, a fireplace, shepherd's pie, and hard cider on tap. oh, and jfk candles! they must have known i was coming.

we laughed our way through lunch, checked out the bathroom where you can see thousands of yourself...a little unnerving! and headed off to have some dessert. mmm. sizzling apple pie a la mode, triple chocolate meltdown...

we managed to burn off all of the calories from dessert laughing so hard that we couldn't breathe. we also entertained a table of marines that had come in out of the cold.

by the time we got to the show we were snow covered, happy, full and giggly.

the lobby was like a carnival with musicians, men on stilts, magicians, carolers, and of course, merchandising.

inside the sets wrapped the entire theater so that you were drawn into london and dicken's world. jim dale's voice alone was worth the ticket, but he stole the show as scrooge. the ghosts were comic and entertaining except , of course, the ghost of christmas yet to come. she was a pointy babe all in red doing ballet en pointe (and if i spelled that wrong...too bad, i am done with dance class, done i tell ya!) i am not sure about the dancing babe. admittedly, she did frighten me, but not in a grim reaper, scythe weilding, doom kind of way.

for the finale they made it snow inside the entire theater. probably would have been more impressive if it hadn't been doing the exact same thing outside. lol. everyone got a good chuckle out of it.

so today we are home and i have to start on my marathon writing weekend. i need to get a minimum of 25 pages done by monday. the kids are already suited up and ready to go outside...hopefully they will play til they are tuckered out and let me get some work done. hubby is curled up under the down comforted and settled in for a full day of trading spaces and american chopper.

enjoy the snow!!! looks like we are looking at 18-20" here!
