all curled up on the couch still stuffed watching the parade. yes, i know it was on yesterday, but we were on the road. so we tivo'd it and watched this morning. yes i am that geeky. i love the parade. (oh, and it is the parade. the macy's thanksgiving day parade. not any philadelphia "we wish we were as cool and we only have creepy ass mummers on new years" wanna be parade!)
got everyone up and out of the house a mere half an hour late yesterday. considering i was still baking in the morning that wasn't too bad.
breakfast at my mom's on the way up was fun. popovers..mmmm. and i picked up my yule log. yay!
off to my dad's where the kids played outside all afternoon. it was perfect weather. always have a good time when we are there. i seem to laugh more when we are together than any other time.
all the traditional foods were present. turkey, stuffing, potatoes, pumpkin pie and lemon apple pie.
lemon apple pie, what's that you ask? that's what you get when the adhd kicks in somewhere in the middle of a recipe and you can't quite remember how much of anything you've already added. eek! so glad that the coconut custard came out well because i could barely taste a hint of apple in the apple pie. i am a good cook! i swear! but gah! how awful. my dad braved through two pieces, not one, but two!
when we were splitting up leftovers hubby yelled from the living room (where hubbies go when there is kitchen stuff to be done) "we don't have to take that lemony one home do we?"
yup, that was a hit.
so we made it home without hitting any of the 34502834579398499 deer we saw and raced in just in time to see "harry for the holidays." there isn't much that a little harry can't cure!
taking the kids today to see haunted mansion and get a little shopping done. good luck to anyone braving the crowds and fighting the crazies at the stores today!
