i don't know. it is too dificult to judge these schools. it's like apples and oranges? this one today seemed better...and yet worse. i can't explain it. the guidance counselor talked in that "hi..what's your name little guy?" kind of condescending way. but then again she seemed fairly kind and intelligent. the principal was a huge linebacker looking man with a suit that was just shoulder pads shy of a zoot suit. but you couldn't help but like him. this school places a huge emphasis on sports. team sports. j seemed interested, but i am not sure that this school is equipped to handle his particular situation. the school has about 90 students. more than the last one. less than where he is now. there is an interesting art program. computers. a school newspaper. but no music. none. not even a little. a track team and a baseball team in a school with 90 kids, but not even a sing-a-long. now j isn't that interested in music (which breaks my heart, but that's another story) but i don't like that he won't be exposed at all. and this school goes all the way through grade 12.
oh, and he didn't take his meds this morning. oversight. but it didn't make for a very good interview.
"watch this! i can roll my eyes back in my head even though it's too dark to see my brain!"
"i have freakish feet. they aren't ticklish at all"
"i like to stuff my face with sugar as a hobby"
i didn't make any of those up. yup. fun.
one more stop on our grand tour of schools, but i am not sure how i feel about any of them. at least the first two were reasonably close. the last one is a bit of a distance for us.
*LOL*
I'm sorry. I don't mean to make fun, but that's hysterical!
I think I've said all three of those things before.
good luck finding a school.
my vote is in for music. (I didn't play sports or music much in elem. school, and just a bit in middle school, but I've always wished I had...)
