maybe it's me..

this morning i look out my window in between nagging at my son to take his meds and get his shoes on and see four high school girls stopped on the sidewalk. this isn't an unusual sight since we are on the main route for them to get to school. and i am used to them stopping and giggling and puffing away sharing one cigarette between the whole gaggle in an effort to attain the maximum level of peer pressure coolness possible. but this morning...

four girls. no bottle opener. and a bottle of beer. they are desparately trying to open this one tiny bottle of beer. beer? for breakfast? even in my college days (ok, often in my first college days...but that explains that whole academic probation thing!) this was never a good idea. not exactly the breakfast of champions. and if they do get this open, why? there are four of them!!!
what good is one beer going to do except incriminate them by the stench?? i don't know. maybe i am old.

so i get in the car. drop off the munchkins and run to target. where, because i have to be at the oldest's concert at 9:00 the car doesn't start at 8:55. so i have to wait for a jump start. maybe i should have had a drink for breakfast! but not beer. vodka maybe. but beer is a late afternoon drink. lol.

anyway, concert goes well and i am extremely proud of j because they said he wouldn't be able to handle the concert and that i shouldn't even send him. he did a great job. sure he wasn't a soloist, but what it takes for that kid to step up there like he did is incredible. and i was a little sad because i don't think the school he has to go to next year is going to have this kind of musical program. anyway, i clap and give him a thimbs up and a hug and try to get out of there. no can do. little guy is having a melt down. finally pry him off me after many promises to pick him up as early as i can, and leave him in a little sniffing pile of tears sitting on his teacher's lap and yup, car won't start.

got it started after a few tries but i am wondering if those girls have any of that beer left!!
