if not extremely tired.
i managed to get here. 9 and a half hours later!!!
i arrived at m's house - as we had arranged - at 12:00. now i am always late for everything except when it comes to getting to the airport. i am a nervous traveller and always feel better getting there in time to deal with everything.
i manage not to get lost. pull up in front of her house. cute little place. flowers. porch. dog barking. no m!! not there. now i am wondering if i have this right. so i sit and i read and try not to worry and she pulls in frantically at 12:20. she laughs a little and says, "guess what? i haven't packed yet. haha"
she isn't kidding.
we don't leave for the airport until 1:20. not 12:00 which would have been pushing it already, but 1:20!!! my flight is at 3:10 it takes over an hour to get to the airport. aah!
we finally get there and i can't check in at the curb because i have been randomly selected by ticket for a security screening! i have to have everything taken apart and x-rayed and searched. let's just say that i didn't cherish the idea of some things being held up in public. lol.
i finally get on the plane - as they are clsing the gate - and then we sit. and sit. and sit a little more. there is some trouble with turbulence. when we do take off it is the bumpiest ride i have ever been on. kinda fun. but not relaxing.
get to detroit and find out that it isn't a quick little jaunt to kzoo, but a 2 1/2 hour drive. m took the first shift....careful never to break 50> on the highway!
finally ...the conference. i check in. get introduced as the idiot undergrad...hrumph and escape to the hotel. no directions...but i eventually found it. checked in. then spent ten minutes trying to figure out how to get to my room.
oh and the mets lost.
but tomorrow should be fun and a lot more relaxing.
night!!
