nightmares...

terrible nightmares all night. truly terrifying. i dreamt that the reason my son won't sleep in his room isn't just because he is scared but because his room is being haunted. i don't remember all the details but enough to remember that this wasn't exactly casper the friendly ghost. i could see the ghosts eyes following us through the room and feel the icy, chill of him reaching through me to get to my son. the air was swirled with red and black. then i was jolted awake by my son screaming (apparently he had his own nightmare) so i scooped him up and snuggled him close for the rest of the night. not sure which of us needed that more.

also had a few of the standard back-to-school nightmares where i don't know anything in class and everyone else does, huge papers due in the morning and i haven't even started, normal run of the mill insecuity nightmares.

oh, and it snowed last night! everything is coated with a new layer of white. not enough to close schools though, just enough to cover the dullness of remaining storms and remind you it's winter (as if these temperatures weren't enough!). i love the snow as much as anyone, but i could use a bit of blue sky and a hint of spring. i am exhausted from the effort it takes to wallow in all this grey.
