Ford County Stories by John Grisham

I used to love John Grisham's books; law-related stories interest me, and he knows how to create characters and spin a tale. However, after his first few novels, I felt that he had gotten himself into a rut - he's very good at setting a scene and putting forth an interesting story, but not nearly as good at bringing these stories to satisfying conclusions.

Ford County Stories
, though, is entertaining Grisham. It's a collection of seven short stories set in small town Mississippi. The short story format suits Grisham best - he can create his characters and situations, but he doesn't abruptly run out of things to say about them. The stories are interesting, diverse and satisfying.

If you're a fan of the writer that John Grisham was, Ford County Stories is an entertaining read.
