Full Count: The Book of Mets Poetry by Frank Messina

I had the honor of hearing Frank Messina recite his Mets poetry in person. So I decided to purchase his book, Full Count: The Book of Mets Poetry.

I am not much of a poetry fan, but I enjoyed Full Count very much. Probably in part because of the subject matter. Probably in part because I've heard the poet recite some of these poems, so I have the advantage of hearing his incantations in my head. And probably in large part because the poetry is quite good.

Full Count
is an entertaining read for any Mets fan; this is an excellent book if you're looking for a Father's Day gift for a Mets fan (and while you're shopping, pick up the paperback edition of Greg Prince's Faith and Fear in Flushing. I promise that you won't be disappointed).
