Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide by Hal Higdon
Because I am training for my first marathon, I found Hal Higdon's book Marathon: The Ulitmate Training Guide to be a fascinating read.
This is not going to be interesting to non-runners. But for those training for a marathon - be it their first or their hundredth, this is a helpful resource. Higdon provides a lot of practical advice, but he doesn't preach; he guides while simultaneously reassuring his readers that they have what it takes to go the distance and either complete a first marathon or improve their performances in subsequent races.
I found this book to be very helpful, and will be consulting it often during my marathon training.
