The Rocket That Fell To Earth: Roger Clemens and the Rage for Baseball Immortality by Jeff Pearlman
I'm a Mets fan. So it goes without saying that I hate Roger Clemens, who threw a fastball at Mike Piazza's head during the 2000 season and a bad shard at him during that year's World Series.
So why did I choose to read The Rocket That Fell To Earth: Roger Clemens and the Rage for Baseball Immortality by Sports Illustrator.com (and former ESPN.com writer) Jeff Pearlman? It's largely because of the author. I've been a fan of Pearlman's writing for years, because he always explores issues from different angles and finds interesting things to say about them.
And the Clemens book is certainly interesting. It did nothing to dissuade me from hating the headhunting egomaniac, but it did provide me with a lot of information that I didn't previously know about the man. I feel like a better informed baseball fan after reading this book.
