Alive and Well in Prague, New York by Daphne Grab
Alive and Well in Prague, New York by Daphne Grab is an extremely well-written YA story. It's a fish-out-of-water story that's after my own heart - Matisse Osgood is forced to leave Manhattan's Upper West Side and relocate to the middle of nowhere in New York State. The reason for this move is related to the fact that her father has Parkinson's Disease, which is something that Matisse and her parents are having difficulty coming to grips with. Meanwhile, City girl Matisse has to make new friends in a school that's very different from the one she left behind.
As you can tell, I liked this book very much - it's an enjoyable yet substantial YA read. It's recommended for ages 12 and up, although I think that it's appropriate for younger kids whose reading skills are up to snuff.
