Never enough books, never enough challenges
Even though I find myself slacking a bit with my reading, I blame it all on the stress of the season and the craziness of closing on the house right in the middle of December. So I am trudging on. I also think it may be that I am not loving The History of Love: A Novel. I have heard nothing but good things about it so I am hanging in there but I am so far not enthused.
However, this does not stop me from signing up for new and exciting challenges. Right now I am scouring my bookshelves and boxes (eek! packing!!) to make lists for these upcoming challenges.
Bookfoolery's Chunkster Challenge
I am sure that a lot of books are going to overlap between challenges. Right now a few that I am considering are in the extended entry.
There's a lot more but that's what I came up with off the top of my head. Now to get some time to read when my brain isn't all scattered.
Anyone else joining in new challenges? I'd be happy to link to others if I'm missing any.
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell: A Novel - Can't wait to read this and might even consider it as a group read if there are enough people interested in tackling a chunkster as a group read.
The Book Thief - Yes, I know, cheating since it's also the group read :) But it has over 400 pages and has been sitting here so....Chunkster and TBR
Little, Big (P.S.) - Picked this up on a whim. Looks great!
Gone with the Wind - One of my favorites. Time for a reread.
Bonus (if I get inspired by GWTW): Scarlett: The Sequel to Margaret Mitchell's "Gone With the Wind"/Deluxe Limited Edition - I loved this sequel. I can't seem to read GWTW without immediately turning to this one. We won't even discuss the terrible TV movie interpretation. Blech.
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell: A Novel
The Book Thief - Yup, a book group read.
Silas Marner (Bantam Classics)
Pigs in Heaven
Map of Bones
My Sister's Keeper: A Novel
Gone with the Wind - A reread. But I thought that I would need it during the crazy packing and moving months. Plus, it's one of my favorites.
A Seperate Peace - Layers and layers of dust on this book from sitting on my vanity. Well, not that my room is that messy or anything ;)
Who Murdered Chaucer?: A Medieval Mystery - I bought this at the Medieval Congress in Kzoo last year and have barely cracked the cover. Hopefully this challenge will be the push I need.
Twilight - I know. Cheating. It's a book group read. But I am trying to be realistic here.
The Enchanted April - Have been really looking forward to reading this but something else always manages to bump it off the list.
The Kite Runner - This is a difficult choice for me. I bought this a long time ago and just can't seem to make myself read it. I know that everyone raves about it but I haven't really felt the desire to dive in. Maybe this challenge will help.
